C10.3.7.3. Drawings and instructions for the Service flag and the Service Lapel Button shall be provided to manufacturers with the issuance of their certificates of authority.  RRGF NOTE: The authorized aspect ratio for Service Flags is 1:1.9

C10.3.5.1. The Service flag shall be treated with dignity and respect. When displayed with the flag of the United States, the Service flag shall be of approximately equal size, but never larger than the flag of the United States. The flag of the United States shall occupy the position of honor

Our regular Service Flag is 32 x 60 inches, which permits it to be flown with a common 3 x 5 foot US Flag while still maintaining the correct 1:1.9 aspect ratio.  In fact, all of our Service Flags and Service Window Banners are made to the required 1:1.9 ratio.  Some licensed manufacturers sell Service Flags in the 3' x 5' size.  They can do this because they have asked for and received a rules waiver.  We decided right from the beginning to make our Service Flags conform to the pattern sent to us by THE INSTITUTE OF HERALDRY, the licensing arm of the Department of Defense.  

All Service Flags are CUSTOM MADE IN USA using US materials, and produced by Americans.  SERVICE WINDOW BANNERS ARE COMMON, BUT WE ARE ONE OF THE FEW COMPANIES MAKING FULL-SIZED SERVICE FLAGS

Consider the following:  

• We use American made materials throughout - our flags are MADE IN AMERICA, BY AMERICANS

• Threads are matched to material color - this means we must start and stop stitching at several points to change spools and/or bobbins

• The long edges have double stitching - the fly end and the hoist are quadruple stitched

• Stars are individually appliquéd and satin stitched

• We use solid brass or zinc grommets that are Made in USA

• Our field tolerances are typically within +/- 1.5% of the stated values - on the typical 32x60 flag the long dimensions average no more than +/- 0.5 inches, and width dimensions +/- 0.25 inches - we take three measurements for each dimension inspected - at the edges and in the middle; tolerances represent the average of these measurements (note: dimensions are subject to change with usage, temperature, and storage)

• We are CUSTOM FLAG MAKERS - each flag is a one-of-a-kind production, made just for you.  We don't "stock" flags.  We feel that your military family member deserves the best tribute possible, and we work to that end.  RRGF has an international reputation for producing high quality flags for museums, reenactors, and historians (click on photo at right).  We put that same effort into our National Service Flags
